They have powerful muscular body, with deep broad chest their cropped ears and docked tail add to their beauty. Although by selective breeding the breed's reputation is changing. The breed still struggles with the reputation of being aggressive. The Doberman can be a great family dog if they are well trained and raised with kids from early puppyhood stage.

History

The Doberman was developed by Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann in the Thuringia region of central Germany in 1890. Louis Doberman was a door-to-door tax collector and needed a guard dog which can protect him all the time. The Doberman was developed by crossing German Pinscher, Rottweiler, Thuringian Shepherd, Black Greyhound, Great Dane, Weimaraner, German Short-haired Pointer and the German Shepherd. Doberman with impressive size, agility and fiery temperament had exactly what required to be a perfect watchdog. Bred as a watchdog Doberman has continued to serve as police dog, military dog, farm dog, hunting dog, etc till date.
